A MESSAGE FROM THE CHURCHES CONSERVATION TRUST

Archaeological Surveying training opportunity at St George's Church, Portland, Dorset

We have just been granted HLF funding to aid our conservation and archaeological surveying project at St George’s Church on Portland Island. We are hoping to incorporate a training element to the archaeological recording and surveying and have been working with Wessex Archaeology to develop a programme using the most recent surveying and laser-scanning technology.

I am writing to you to ask if any of your members would like to be included in this training, which is due to take place from now through to early next year. We will be working with university students as well, but I wanted to give local archaeological societies to opportunity to take part in the exciting project and to gain some invaluable training and experience in archaeological recording and surveying techniques.

If you’d like more details please feel free to contact me.
